Representing Maine people in the State House over the past few years has been the greatest honor of my professional life. There have been two guiding principles for my work as a Legislator:
“How does this take care of people while being responsible for taxpayer’s hard-earned money”
I have faced and worked on tough issues: budget deficits, lack of affordable health care, poor job growth, an increasing tax burden, issues that critically need attention at the Federal level.
So today, with great humility and excitement, I am announcing that I will be a candidate for Maine’s 1st Congressional District in November 2006.
It is time for a change in the United States House of Representatives. The “blame-game” and partisan politics must end. There is work to be done. I will be a strong independent voice for Maine and work with our State Senators Snowe and Collins to “reach across the aisle” putting people before politics.
I will work hard every day to make Maine and our nation better, stronger, more prosperous and secure.

"As a health care leader and provider, Darlene Curley well knows the financial burden that health care and health insurance can place on Maine families. She knows what makes Maine special and what can make Maine better"
